Don’t Breathe 2 is a 2021 American horror thriller film directed by Rodo Sayagues in his directorial debut, based on a screenplay he co-wrote with Fede Álvarez, the director of the first film.
Now it looks like those idiots are making the exact same mistake in Don’t Breathe 2, the 2021 sequel set to hit theaters this weekend.
Directed by Rodo Sayagues and written by Sayagues and Fede Álvarez (who also wrote the first film, which Álvarez directed), Don’t Breathe 2 takes place eight years after the events of the first film. Norman Nordstrom now lives with an 11-year-old girl named Phoenix (played by Madelyn Grace) and has in his own way recreated the life stolen from him by a drunk driver.
You won’t want to miss the exciting next chapter in the saga, so here’s everything you need to know about where to watch Don’t Breathe 2 and when to expect Don’t Breathe 2 on streaming.
WHERE LOOK DON’T BREATH 2:
For now, the only place to watch Don’t Breathe 2 is in a movie theater when it opens on Friday, August 13. You can find the Don’t Breathe 2 showtimes here.
WON’T BREATH 2 ON HBO MAX?
New. Don’t Breathe 2 is not a Warner Bros. movie. HBO Max, which is owned by Warner Media, is only the streaming service of the first Warner Bros. blockbusters like The Suicide Squad.
Because Don’t Breathe 2 is being distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing, it won’t be streaming on HBO Max at the same time it hits theaters. While it’s possible that Don’t Breathe 2 will make an appearance on HBO Max someday, it won’t be anytime soon.
IS DON’T BREATH 2 ON NETFLIX?
New. Don’t Breathe 2 is not on Netflix. However, the film could be released on Netflix in the coming months. Don’t Breathe 2 is a Sony movie, and Sony recently signed a deal with Netflix, giving the streaming service exclusive US rights to stream Sony’s theatrical releases in its first pay-TV window, starting with the studio’s 2022 slate.
That said, Don’t Breathe 2 is a 2021 movie, so it’s not clear if it will also be heading to Netflix after its theatrical run.
CAN’T I BREATHE STREAM 2 EVERYWHERE? WHEN WILL BREATH 2 NOT ON STREAMING?
New. Currently, the only way to watch Don’t Breathe 2 is in a movie theater. A streaming or video-on-demand release date for the film has not yet been announced.
It’s hard to say when Don’t Breathe 2 will hit streaming. Earlier in the pandemic, Sony released Bloodshot on VOD just two weeks after it opened in theaters, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. More recently, Peter Rabbit 2 went up for rent on July 27 for $19.99, just over six weeks after it opened in theaters.
If Don’t Breathe 2 follows the same release pattern, it could become available for rental on PVOD around the last week of September.
However, Sony hasn’t followed a consistent release pattern during the pandemic, so take that prediction with a grain of salt and stay tuned for the official digital release date for Don’t Breathe 2.

‘Don’t Breathe 2’ Plot
The film follows the Blind Man (Norman Nordstrom), who lives with 11-year-old Phoenix; he has impersonated the family stolen from him by a drunk driver and has found the twisted justice he always thought was his due.
Their peaceful existence is disrupted when a group of kidnappers come to his house, this time targeting Phoenix, Norman will reveal for the second time what is hidden inside him… and again, it will be in new and unexpected ways.
lvarez said of this film: “It’s exciting to see a character that you want to look like more of. I at least. I’d like to see the blind man on the screen do some other stuff. What is going to happen to him in his life?”
This indicates that Lang’s blind man character plays a major role, which brings us back to the beginning of this story: post-production is complete.
Movie Review of ‘Don’t Breathe 2’
If you hang out with the boogeyman long enough, he will stop boogymening and turn back into a man. At least, that’s the theory that Rodo Sayagues’ “Don’t Breathe 2” seems desperate to prove, despite an overwhelming lack of evidence to the contrary.
“Don’t Breathe 2” may not be the first horror movie sequel that attempts to transform the monster into an antihero, but it’s hard to think of another that’s sniffed at it this hard.
The original “Don’t Breathe”, co-written by Sayagues and director Fede Alvarez, was a violent and vicious horror thriller about a group of teenage thieves who break into a rich blind man’s house, only to discover what he’s hiding isn’t money. .
As played by Stephen Lang, former Navy SEAL Norman Nordstrom was a grotesquely violent kidnapper, murderer and much, much worse, whose motives were no excuse for his evil. Nordstrom’s backstory – in which his daughter died and he did the unthinkable to replace her – shaped his badness without making him sympathetic
