Akshay Kumar starrer Bell Bottom was released yesterday and it’s time for the trade pundits to be on their job. Bell Bottom, despite being a big release, has to face certain challenges. The film has earned a spot of 1600 screens in India and yet it misses its theatrical release in Maharashtra as theatres are shut owing to COVID-19. Maharashtra constitutes a good percentage of business at the box-office and Bell Bottom loses on this opportunity from the state due to the pandemic. The theatres that are running the film are open to only 50 per cent occupancy. Trade pundits were assured that with so many challenges the film would earn around Rs 5 crores on day one.
Now according to reports on a business news portal, Bell Bottom has earned approximately Rs 3 crores on Day one. Now that Rs 3 crores on day one is not bad at all owing to all the challenges and shortcomings mentioned above. Moreover the film released on a Thursday and yet it has managed to garner 3 crores, over the weekend with festivities also around the corner, the film might become bigger at the box-office.
All said and done, no matter what the total outcome of this film is, the fact that a big superstar and the makers are ready to take risks and trust in theatres and cinema halls after a dearth of movie-releases, is a big move in itself.
