All you need to know about Bollywood actor Asif Basra - Times of India


Actor Asif Basra, who had established himself in Bollywood as well as in television circuit, has reportedly died by suicide. According to reports, the actor was found dead at a private guest house in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh on Thursday evening.

In a statement to ANI, SSP Kangra Vimukt Ranjan confirmed the news and said, “Film actor Asif Basra was found hanging in a private complex in Dharamshala. A forensic team is at the spot and the police is investigating the matter. It is a case of suicide but we are investigating the cause. The body has been sent for postmortem.”

B-town celebs like filmmaker Hansal Mehta, Emraan Hashmi, Manoj Bhajpayee, Divya Dutta and many others who have worked with Basra in the past took to their respective handles to mourn his loss.

Here are some details about the late actor:

– Apart from acting, Asif Basra used to train aspiring actors at the Prithvi Theater. Not only films and shows, but Basra even featured in several plays as well.

– Played an integral role in Sushant Singh Rajput starrer ‘Kai Po Che’. Not only that but Basra even played the role of Emraan Hashmi’s father in ‘Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai’.

– Basra began his career with the television series ‘Woh’ in 1998. He will be seen in the second season of web show Hostages.

– On a personal level, Asif Basra holds a BSc degree in Physics. He even completed a computer course as well.

– Asif had featured in several Bollywood hits like ‘Black Friday’, ‘Jab We Met’, ‘Krrish 3’, ‘Kaalakaandi’ and ‘Hichki’.
