The actor was reportedly found dead at a private guest house in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh on Thursday. In a statement to ANI, SSP Kangra Vimukt Ranjan confirmed, “Film actor Asif Basra was found hanging in a private complex in Dharamshala. Forensic team is at the spot and police is investigating the matter.”
On hearing the news, filmmaker Hansal Mehta expressed his shock in a tweet that read, “Asif Basra! Can’t be true… This is just very, very sad.”

Reacting to the filmmaker’s post, actor Manoj Bhajpayee, who worked with the Basra just before the locked, said in a tweet, “What? This is too shocking!! Shot with him just before Lockdown!!! Oh My God!!!”
