Talking about her Diwali plans, she told a news portal that they are going to keep things low key, keeping in the mind the sensitivity of the situation towards the environment and the people around them. According to her, it’s been a difficult year for many in different ways owing to the pandemic. So, they are going to stay at home, do a simple pooja and spend time with family.
Elaborating further on how things have changed, Deepika added that every year, one looks forward to festivals. This year, though, is slightly different because of the various things that different people have gone through due to the pandemic. However, she added that at the end of it, a festival is all about hope, so for her, it’s a bittersweet feeling this year.
Spilling the beans on what Diwali is all about for her, the actress said that it’s the diyas as she is all for the light. She also shed light on the fact that everyone’s names in her family including her father, mother, and hers are actually different synonyms of the word, light. Hence, Diwali has always been an extra special festival for them, and lighting diyas is her thing. She added that keeping the diyas ready, readying the wick, putting ghee and lighting them, during the pooja, is what she looks forward to the most.
On the work front, Deepika is currently shooting for Shakun Batra’s untitled next which also stars Ananya Panday and Siddhant Chaturvedi in the lead roles.
Apart from this, she will also be seen in Kabir Khan’s ‘83’ where she will be seen sharing screen space with husband Ranveer Singh once again. She is also co-producing the film.
