The NEP (National Education Policy) was introduced in July, 2020. From that very moment, a dedicated team of 21 experts, educators & researchers from EuroSchool’s in-house curriculum team – Cerebrum – started redesigning and upgrading the curriculum.
Now, EuroSchool is proud to announce that it is one of the first schools to have a new curriculum that has integrated salient features of NEP 2020. It focuses on the development of 21st century skills, while instilling ethical, rational and creative skills in learners. The modified textbooks and learning resources will be made available in the new academic year 21-22.
What does the NEP 2020 upgraded curriculum look like?
The content framework of EuroSchool’s new curriculum is based on the 7E Instruction Design Principle – Engage, Explain, Elaborate, Explore, Evaluate, Extend and Experience. It also accommodates the 4C’s of 21st century learning skills – Critical Thinking, Creativity, Collaboration and Communication.
The upgraded curriculum will ensure learning goes beyond the classroom by way of the application of knowledge in real life situations. Self-assessment and peer assessments will equip students to engage in regular SWOT analysis, and help them work on strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. Assessment of core concepts, higher-order skills and their applications in real-life situations through case studies and discussions are more highlights of the new curriculum. The already incorporated pedagogical tools are further enhanced by integrating EuroSchool’s proprietary learning ecosystem – ARGUS.
Integrating ARGUS with the NEP 2020 powered curriculum
EuroSchool ARGUS is primarily designed to facilitate three core objectives:
1. Personalised learning from home;
2. Collaboration between students & teachers;
3. Invite parents to partner in their child’s learning journey through periodic updates & counsel.
EuroSchool’s defining L-R-P-A-X (Learn-Reinforce-Practice-Apply-eXperience) pedagogical framework forms the backbone of the [email protected] student application. Here students Learn from and engage with digital media (digital books, videos, quizzes). Concepts and content are Reinforced through recap cards, Check Your Progress quizzes and interactive videos. They then Practice what they have learnt by solving worksheets. ARGUS’s activities and videos enable students to Apply concepts to real-world situations and make learning meaningful and relevant. Students then apply their knowledge of concepts by completing projects that integrates other subjects (eXperiential learning). This is how EuroSchool’s new curriculum along with ARGUS has seamlessly integrated the NEP 2020 recommendations, completely.
Commenting on the initiative, Rahul Deshpande, CEO, EuroSchool, said, “At EuroSchool, we have always encouraged innovation, both in the classroom as well as in the organization. After our in-house curriculum team analysed the new National Education Policy, they got to work immediately to incorporate the new elements in our curriculum. We are proud to have a strong in-house team of curriculum designers and developers that work round the clock, to deliver meaningful and engaging content for our students. This helps them achieve both academic and all-round developmental milestones. Our aim is to ensure that our students are provided with the most innovative inputs to help them discover their potential. The changes in the curriculum in keeping with the NEP guidelines are the first step towards this. We are confident this will be appreciated by our parents & teachers alike.”
He further said, “Let me add here that our students have been taking up internships during their vacations even before the NEP was announced and this will be continued. EuroSchoolers have been and will continue to benefit from their internships.”
