Rejoice, Gavin & Stacey fans, the characters of Ruth Jones and Rob Brydon, Nessa and Bryn, will be back on our screens soon. In the BBC One comedy, Gaynor and Ray play newlyweds in their sixties. Digital Spy said Jones will star Gaynor in the one-off 35-minute special, while Brydon would play Ray, whose ex-wife described him as “impossible to live with” as they embark on another journey.
Jones co-wrote Gaynor & Ray with her real-life husband, producer David Peet, in addition to acting on the program. There are 35 minutes of footage of Ray and Gaynor on their honeymoon in the Scottish Highlands, where they encounter different personalities and circumstances, according to the official BBC recap. These two haven’t been together for six months, but have already discovered a lot about each other.
Jones and Peet told the BBC they were “delighted” to see Gaynor and Ray come to life on television. By watching them, we can learn more about the way men and women deal with everyday life and relationships.” In addition to the release date, the BBC has released a teaser image, which appears to show all the artists holding hands.
Fans of Gavin & Stacey will be happy to see Nessa and Bryn back together, even if they don’t play the characters we know and love. Jones co-created the program with late-night host James Corden, and it aired for three years before a reunion Christmas special was released in December 2019.
When it comes to the proposal, they’ve left it hanging, haven’t they?’ While there are no formal preparations for another Gavin & Stacey reunion, Brydon said in April. They will have to work hard if they want to succeed.” This week Gaynor & Ray will be featured on the BBC One and iPlayer channels.
