JK school education dept. orders cessation of academic activities in schools run by Jamaat affiliate

Srinagar 15th June (PTI) Over 300 educational institutions operated under Falah-e-Aam (FAT) which is an affiliate of the banned Jamaat-e-Islami were barred from functioning from operating by Jammu and Kashmir School education department, officials announced on Tuesday.

A decision was taken by the School Education Minister B K Singh on Monday to stop academic activities in schools affiliated with FAT and directed chief education officers of diverse districts to seal the schools within 15 days after the concert with the district’s administration.

The order also stated that students enrolled in these institutions that are banned must accept admission to nearby schools of the government for the current academic year.

The directive has asked principals, chief education officers along with zonal education officials to help facilitate admission to these students.

There are no new admissions to be made to these restricted FAT establishments, this notice added, as well as directing principal and zonal educational officers to extensively make public announcements about the institutions that are not recognized.

The decision comes in the wake of investigations carried out by the State Investigation Agency (SIA) of Jammu and Kashmir Police which claimed gross violations and fraud, as well as massive wide encroachment on public lands by FAT.

The FAT According to officials is an affiliate of the extremist group Jamat-e-Islami (JeI) and is banned by the Ministry of Home Affairs under the laws of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act.

The authorities claimed that JeI is primarily reliant on the extensive array of FAT schools seminaries, orphanages, the pulpits of mosques, and other charitable organizations. They also said that these institutions played a detrimental part in the massive unrests in the years 2008, 2010, and 2016, causing immense suffering to ordinary people and forcing the closure of their facilities through threats of intimidation, repression, and street violence.

Incredibly, the majority of FAT schools that exceed 300 were discovered to be located on illegally acquired community and government land that was taken with coercion, under threat of gunpoint, and co-operating with revenue officials that created false entities in tax documents, committing fraud and forgery, officials claimed.

The SIA has already registered an FIR regarding this matter. The agency is now expanding the scope of its investigations to discover the frauds, illegal organizations, and forgeries that have been perpetrated in the past 30 years at the request of terrorists as well as to obtain other motives, such as money-based gratifications, officials said. PTI SKL ZMN
