Prachi Singh IPS


Prachi Singh is an Indian IPS officer and the current Inspector General of Police of Delhi Police. She is India’s first policewoman to become IG. She is one of the most decorated police officers in the country. She has served as IG Delhi Police for over two years now. Prachi Singh was commissioned into the Madras Sappers and joined the Indian Police Service in 2001 from Women’s University, Rohtak. Before becoming the Inspector-General, she was Delhi’s Special Commissioner for Women with an additional charge of Special Secretary (Home). Prachi Singh was born on 21 September 1974 in Uttar Pradesh’s Etawah district. Her mother is a homemaker while her father is a retired Army Subedar and a private security guard. After serving for over 10 years, she was promoted as an Additional Commissioner of Special Branch and later became the special secretary (home).
