The movie was released in 1996. His first English film is Inferno that was made in 1997. He also made his debut in the Kannada film Shanti Shanti Shanti which was made in 1998. In 2000, he directed his debut Tamil film Alaipayuthey that was produced by Mani Ratnam and for the film he won the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut for the South. The most recent film he made, Rocketry, where he was the lead actor and directed, wrote as well as wrote the script was a huge hit.

R. Madhavan was born on 1 June 1970 in Jamshedpur, Bihar, India. R.
