Dance Career of Ramya Ranganathan

Ranganathan’s first dance performance was at the age of two. Her senior sisters were also dancers and encouraged her to take up the sport. She started taking ballet lessons when she was four and later moved on to modern dance. She did her bachelor’s degree in economics from Annamalai University and later decided to pursue a career in dance. In 2011, she was selected as a part of the NDDC team for the European Ballet Days — Europe. On 7 December 2013, Ranganathan was honored with the National Award for Best Actress at the Delhi Durbar for her performance in the film Gangotri. Her performance in the film won the National Film Awards for Best Actress and Best Film. Her performance was highly praised by critics and won several awards. The film was also a part of the 2014 Indian screen box office hit, 100 Lakh Voices. Ranganathan’s performance was so appreciated that she bagged the Filmfare Award for Best Actress in 2014.
