Tearful Saira Banu escorts Dilip Kumar’s remains to Bandra’s house; B-Town celebs gather to pay their last respects

New Delhi | Jagran Entertainment Desk: Once again, Indian cinema is deeply saddened after losing the oldest and legendary actor, Dilip Kumar, in the early morning hours today. He left one of the great legacies that will inspire generations to come. Although it is one of the hard times for all his fans and celebrities, it is the hardest for his wife Saira Banu. She always stood as a rock next to the actor and never left him alone, even during his routine checkups. Not only this, she also kept the fans of veteran actors informed about his health condition via Twitter.

The diva of yesteryear, Saira Banu, mourned her husband’s death as she escorts the actor’s remains to their home in Bandra, Mumbai. She was seen in Hinduja hospital and ambulance accompanied by her family and closed. Mumbai Police formed a human chain so the ambulance could travel safely to his home.

According to reports, Dilip Kumar’s funeral will be held at 5pm today in Juhu Qabrastan, Santacruz, Mumbai with full state honours.

B-town celebs Shabana Azmi, Vidya Balan and husband Sidharth Roy Kapur were spotted arriving at Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu’s residence to pay her final respects to the legendary actor.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and celebrities like Lata Mangeshkar, Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini, Dharmendra, Raakhee, Waheeda Rehman, among others, mourned the death of Dilip Kumar. Speaking to ETimes, Hema Malini said they had lost the last pillar of Bollywood. “Raj Kapoor, Dev Anand and Dilip Kumar were the three pillars of Bollywood. Each had their own style of acting. With Raj saab I started my career in Hindi movies. With Dev saab I was lucky enough to shoot 7-8 films. He loved me very much. Unfortunately, however, I never got the chance to be paired up against Dilip Saab.
