The Jets cornerbacks had a hard time against the Eagles

Three takeaways from the 31-31 tie of the Jets with the Eagles their preseason finale on Friday night.

1. The cornerbacks had a rough night. You could write it off because the problems mainly arise when there are backups on the pitch, but chances are the Jets will need those backups to play this season. Joe Flacco caught rookie Isaiah Dunn with his back to him and beat him for a touchdown pass. The Jets’ young cornerbacks will be an important story this season.

2. The Eagles had some great careers defending the Jets. The Jets didn’t have Quinnen Williams and Sheldon Rankins in the middle, so no need to panic, but for the second week in a row, the defense gave an opponent some big running lanes.

3. The preseason is over, let’s all be thankful for that. The Jets had a productive training camp, but the injury to the defensive end of Carl Lawson will loom large during their season and could be the most meaningful development of the summer.
